The period for filing notice of candidacy for various Federal, State, District and County Offices begins 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 and ends at 12:00 noon on Monday, December 21, 2015. Candidates filing for State Senate, State House and all county offices will file their notice of candidacy with the Alamance County Board of Elections, 115 S Maple Street in Graham. All filing fees must be paid by check or money order.
Any candidate filing for a partisan primary office must have been affiliated with the political party in which he/she seeks to be a candidate for at least 75 days prior to the filing date.
Anyone interested in filing for other district and state offices must file notice of candidacy with the State Board of Elections, 441 North Harrington Street (PO Box 27255), Raleigh, 27611-7255 (telephone # 919-733-7173). Prior to filing at the State Board Office, the candidate should request a filing form from either the Alamance County Board of Elections Office, the State Board Office in Raleigh or download a form from the State Board of Elections website www.ncsbe.gov. Before the actual filing can be completed the County Board of Elections must certify the candidate’s political party and the fact that the candidate has not changed his political party within 75 days of the filing date. The election of Soil and Water District Supervisor is a non-partisan office and candidates must file at the elections office beginning Monday, June 13, 2016 at 12:00 noon but no later than 12:00 noon on Friday, July 1, 2016.
Any candidate or political committee in Alamance County must file campaign reports with either the State or County Board of Elections. The appropriate board is determined by the office the candidate is seeking or the political committee or individual is supporting or opposing. Organizational reports must be filed by candidates, political committees and individuals no later than 10 days after organization or political activity. These reports are due prior to filing for office, if organization or activity begins prior to filing.
