Alamance County uses the NC Debt Setoff program to help collect unpaid ACEMS debt. You can learn more about this program at their website http://www.ncsetoff.org/
Every patient that is past due on the money they owe to Alamance County Emergency Medical Services (ACEMS) for services provided receives a copy of this letter: Sample Debt Setoff Letter
The patient’s letter should have their own name, address, account number and amount owed included. Patients will have 30 days to request a hearing with the Alamance County Attorney who would meet with the appealing party and allow them to contest the amount they owe. The only valid reasons to request a hearing are as follows:
- Incorrect person was billed
- Clerical Error
- Improper Coding
If you have any questions about debt setoff, please contact Alamance County Emergency Medical Services headquarters during business hours, Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm, at 336-570-6796.
