On April 16, 2022, Detectives with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office were contacted by the Department of Social Services (DSS) in reference to a possible fraud. DSS found reason to believe that Shontryail Russell was receiving benefits from the state of North Carolina for Food and Nutrition (Food Stamps) that she was not entitled to receive.
Sheriff’s Office Investigators discovered that Ms. Russell received benefits of over $15,500. It was further discovered that Ms. Russell received the benefits by fraudulently reporting that her juvenile daughter resided with her, when in fact, the child resides with her biological father.
Ms. Russell was arrested, charged and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.
