On Tuesday, October 29th, 2024, Detectives with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Division began an investigation following a report of an alleged sexual assault. The alleged assault was believed to have occurred in southern Alamance County. During the investigation, Detectives found probable cause to bring charges against Paul Anthony Layton.
On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, Detectives, along with the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, took Mr. Layton into custody at a location in Alamance County. Detectives served warrants of arrest on Mr. Layton who was transported to the Alamance County Jail where he remains.
Suspect: Paul Anthony Layton W/M/56 of Burlington, N.C.
Charges: 1 count of felony incest of child
5 counts of felony statutory rape/sex offense
