On Monday, September 16, 2024, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office filed for juvenile petitions on two Alamance County juveniles. Each was charged with 1 count of felony threats to commit an act of mass violence on educational property.

The charges stem from an investigation which began on Thursday, September 12, 2024, after multiple social media posts were sent targeting ABSS schools. Working together with our law enforcement partners from the Burlington Police Department, Graham Police Department, Mebane Police Department and various social media platforms, the individuals were identified.

The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office is committed to the protection and safety of our students and staff, and we will always take every threat of violence seriously. We ask parents, grandparents, and caregivers of students to help us re-enforce the importance of useful social media posts, and the consequences of threatening and inappropriate posts.

The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office also wishes to thank our partners at the Alamance Burlington School System who worked side by side with us and gave our SRO’s and investigators the support needed to resolve this matter in a timely fashion.
