On Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 12:52 p.m., Deputies received a report of a shooting on White Road in Southern Alamance County. On arrival, Deputies located the body of Ervin Paul Brown Jr. Mr. Brown had been shot multiple times.
While on scene, Deputies were told that the shooter, identified as Jeffrey Brent Lucas, fled in a pickup truck. After a brief search of the area, Deputies located Mr. Lucas who was taken into custody without incident.
Detectives learned that Mr. Brown and Mr. Lucas were arguing over a small sum of money. The argument spilled over from the previous evening. Witnesses told Deputies that as the argument continued, Mr. Lucas displayed a weapon and allegedly fired the fatal shots.
Mr. Lucas was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center where he remains.
