Traffic Stops

In accordance with North Carolina General Statute § 143B-903, the majority of law enforcement agencies in the state are required to submit statistics regarding their traffic stops to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.

The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office is subject to this statute and thus abides by it. As a result, our traffic stop statistics are publicly accessible via the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation’s website located here:

Crime Statistics

Statistics regarding crime in specific geographic areas (i.e., the different cities, counties, and states throughout the United States) are collected on a voluntary basis as part of the Uniform Crime Reporting program initiated and administered by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Specifically in North Carolina, participating law enforcement agencies submit their data to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation which then compiles said data into publicly accessible calendar-year reports. The reports are generally published at a delay of a little over one calendar-year; for example, the report for 2018 would not be available until the beginning of 2020.

The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office participates in this program and as such, our statistics are publicly accessible via the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation’s website located here:
